Following a discussion, the Executive Committee decided, without prejudice to the operation of the Montreal Protocol’s mechanism for dealing with non-compliance:
- To take note of the strategy and plan of action for Chile for returning to compliance, submitted by the Government of Chile;
- To approve in principle the project for the phase-out of all remaining uses of methyl bromide in soil applications at a total level of funding of US $2,547,156, plus agency support costs of US $191,037 for the World Bank;
- To approve the revised agreement between the Government of Chile and the Executive Committee for the phase-out of methyl bromide used in soil applications in Chile contained in Annex IX to the present report; and
- To approve US $691,703, plus support costs of US $51,878 for the World Bank, for the implementation of the 2005 work programme for the phase-out of all remaining uses of methyl bromide in soil applications in Chile.
