The Executive Committee decided to approve a demonstration project for digital monitoring and management tools to enhance energy efficiency and reduce emission of greenhouse gases in the cold-chain sector in Lebanon, in the amount of US $186,000, plus agency support costs of US $16,740, for UNDP, noting:
- That the global component of the project set out in document UNEP/OzL.Pro/ExCom/97/55 had been removed;
- That the Government of Lebanon had committed to the conditions referred to in decision 91/65(b)(iv)b. to b(iv)d.;
- That the Government of Lebanon would develop energy-efficiency guidelines for commercial refrigeration applications for improving energy efficiency in the retail sector upon the completion of the project;
- That co-financing of US $50,000 had been committed by the Government of Lebanon and beneficiaries;
- That US $70,000 of the total cost of the demonstration project referred to in paragraph 381 above would relate to national technical assistance activities covering the development of digital tools for data analysis to identify adjustments and opportunities for optimization of performance, the prevention of refrigerant leakages and the enhancement of energy efficiency; and
- That the project would be operationally completed no later than 31 December 2028, and that a detailed project report would be submitted to the Executive Committee within six months of the date of completion of the project.
