Decision 50/26

Following a discussion, the Executive Committee decided:

1. To approve the CAP budget for 2007 (Annex XII to the present report) at the amount of US $8,003,000 plus agency support costs of 8 per cent amounting to US $640,240 on the basis that:
   1. UNEP would, in future submissions, provide details on the activities for which the funds for global awareness-raising would be used;
   2. UNEP was encouraged to continue extending the prioritization of funding among CAP budget lines so as to accommodate changing priorities; and
   3. The CAP budget should only be spent in accordance with the terms of reference for the financial mechanism contained in Article 10 of the Montreal Protocol and therefore resources should not be spent on inter- multilateral environmental agreement coordination activities;
2. To request UNEP to prepare a paper on how the MDI thematic workshops would be conducted based on the actual needs, including costs, of the different networks. The paper should be presented at the 51^st Meeting of the Executive Committee;
3. To request the Secretariat to continue liaising with UNEP to monitor the return of unspent funds in accordance with decision 35/36(d).
