In light of these developments, the Executive Committee decided to approve the project for the replacement of refrigerant CFC-12 with isobutane and of the foam blowing agent CFC-11 with cyclopentane in the manufacture of domestic refrigerators and chest freezers at Light Industries Company, at a total funding level of US $2,161,581, plus agency support costs of US $162,119 for UNIDO, without prejudice to the non-compliance mechanism of the Montreal Protocol, and on the understanding that no other project for the phase-out of CFCs in the refrigeration manufacturing sector would be approved for Iraq outside the national phase-out plan.
