Following informal discussions in the margins of the meeting that gave members a better understanding of the concern raised by the Government of Argentina, the Executive Committee decided:
- To note the progress report on the implementation of the first tranche of the project for the control of emissions of HFC-23 generated in the production of HCFC-22 at Frío Industrias Argentinas (FIASA); and
- To approve the second and third tranches of the project for the control of emissions of HFC-23 generated in the production of HCFC-22 at FIASA, in the amount of US $96,775, plus agency support costs of US $6,774, for UNIDO, on the understanding that, in line with subparagraph 8(c) of the Agreement between the Government of Argentina and the Executive Committee, the remaining HFC-23 by-product for which funding for destruction could be requested at future meetings held within the Agreement implementation period was 215,348 kilograms.
