Decision 95/67

The Executive Committee decided:

1. To approve, in principle, stage I of the Kigali HFC implementation plan (KIP) for Mauritius for the period 2024–2029 to reduce HFC consumption by 10 per cent of the country’s baseline by 2029, in the amount of US $190,000, plus agency support costs of US $24,700, for the Government of Germany, as reflected in the schedule contained in annex XLIII to the present report;
2. To note:
   1. That, if the HFC consumption level for Mauritius for the years 2024 or 2025 was above the Montreal Protocol control limits or the maximum allowable consumption in the future Agreement between the Government of Mauritius and the Executive Committee, on the understanding that the Government of Mauritius would continue to make every effort to meet those control limits, the Secretariat would inform and seek guidance from the Executive Committee on the procedure to follow in light of decision XXXV/16;
   2. That the Government of Germany would provide, as part of its 2024 financial and progress report to be considered at the 97th meeting, an update on the status of implementation of the HFC quota system in Mauritius;
   3. That the Government of Mauritius aimed to implement a ban on the import and use of HFC based domestic refrigerators and small commercial refrigeration equipment from 1 January 2027;
3. To approve the first tranche of stage I of the KIP for Mauritius, and the corresponding tranche implementation plan, in the amount of US $103,000, plus agency support costs of US $13,390, for the Government of Germany; and
4. To request the Government of Mauritius, the Government of Germany and the Secretariat to finalize the draft Agreement between the Government of Mauritius and the Executive Committee for the reduction in consumption of HFCs, including the information contained in the annex referred to in subparagraph (a) above, and to submit it to a future meeting once the KIP Agreement template had been approved by the Executive Committee.
